Heppenheim wedding photographer: a russian wedding in Gernsheim

15. April 2015

I love to immerse myself in different cultures and customs from all over the world. I have had the privilege of documenting weddings all over the world: New York, Paris or Tuscany – just to name a few of these places. But what fascinates me most about it is not the journey itself. It’s much more than that. You get a better feeling for the country and the people through a wedding than if you were just a tourist. In my job, you become part of a family for a day and experience an incredible amount of impressions that you can capture in pictures. But what does this have to do with Shanna and Konstantin, whom I accompanied as a wedding photographer in Heppenheim an der Bergstraße shortly before Christmas? The two celebrated a very loving and small Russian winter wedding!

Getting ready with wedding photographer in Heppenheim

Just a week before Christmas, I came to the bride and groom’s home: the Getting Ready is in full swing. After the bride got into her dress and the groom straightened his tie, we went together to the old town of Heppenheim. The best part: everything was already decorated for Christmas: fairy lights, poinsettias and the Christmas tree. If you haven’t thought about a winter wedding up to this point, you definitely will now.

After the small shooting in downtown Heppenheim, the two got married in the decorated – and fortunately cozy warm – town hall of the city. The bride and groom decided to celebrate in a small circle: just 25 guests were present. Who needs hundreds of guests when you have all the people who mean something to you with you?

Civil wedding ceremony in the city hall

The emotional civil wedding ended (of course) with the ring exchange and kiss. How could it be otherwise? During the congratulations that followed, tears flowed for the first time and it was great to see how moved the wedding party is by the wedding of the two. It’s great to be able to capture such moments in pictures for eternity. That’s why I just love my job!

Russian celebration with wedding photographer in a restaurant near Heppenheim

For the bridal couple, their friends and me as a wedding photographer, we drove from Heppenheim to nearby Gernsheim. The small venue that the two had chosen is called “Gernsheimer Schiff” – a restaurant directly at the Rhine.

Here everyone ended the day together and celebrated the event with numerous speeches and of course the delicious cake. For me there is only one thing to add: Горько! (“Gorko”) 😉
