Quedlinburg Wedding Photographer: an urban exploration after-wedding shooting

12. June 2015

Do you still know Nadja and Salvatore? I was already allowed to accompany the civil wedding of the two at Schloss Philippsruhe in Hanau at the beginning of December. The two were so thrilled with their pictures that they booked me not only as their wedding photographer but also for a couple shooting in Quedlinburg.

Special pictures after the wedding in the Harz Mountains

For the after-wedding shooting, we thought of something very special together: beautiful wedding pictures in the forest or at the lake has, after all, just about everyone. But the former bride and groom are not “everyone” – they wanted something extraordinary.

After-Wedding-Shooting with Wedding Photographer in Quedlinburg

The location for the pictures was a long abandoned place near Quedlinburg in the Harz Mountains: a so-called “Lost Place” to which we had access only with a special permit. The NAPOLA Ballenstedt is a huge area that was teeming with photo ideas at every corner – my wedding photographer’s heart beats faster in Quedlinburg! If you don’t know the film about these buildings, you should definitely watch it.

The historic place, which was first built as an elite school and later used as a listening post in the GDR, had something quiet and yet magical about it: where thousands of students used to listen spellbound, our bride and groom are standing today. It was a mixture of heaviness and fascination for history.

Amazing wedding photos in the Harz Mountains

Together we were able to realize completely different – special – pictures on this day, as they would have been unthinkable on the wedding day. After all, so many different things happen at a wedding that you don’t want to just be away from the party for a long time.

Pictures by a wedding photographer in the Harz mountains and worldwide

But on this Sunday in Ballenstedt near Quedlinburg we had a lot of time: time to try out ideas. Time to test. And time to have a really beautiful and intimate shoot together in a place steeped in history.
