Oh, what a wonderful trip it was! This time I made a trip as a wedding photographer to the Baltic Sea, around Lübeck, Scharbeutz and the sea in late summer. I mad the trip with the fantastic „Trautante“ and together we spent the weekend with the wedding couple and guests at Birkenhof in Ahrensboek. And as you can imagine when wedding vendors get married, it was a really all-around relaxed and great wedding. Because: Fabian, the groom, is a wedding photographer himself.

In addition, Friederike as a wedding celebrant and me as a wedding photographer already knew the wedding couple, because we had already documented the marriage proposal at Christmas some time before in New York. THAT was amazing I tell you!
In contrast, the wedding was really different to all the action we had in the USA. In New York, just the four of us, in winter, early in the morning before the awakening of the city (which is supposed to never sleep, but apparently is really tired at 5 in the morning 😉). And now we are here at the Baltic Sea at Birkenhof in Ahrensbök. A whole bunch of guests, in the summer late afternoon. Perfect!

But of course, the theme of the wedding ceremony with which the day began after everyone had dressed up comfortably at the Getting Ready or had just arrived, was still New York! You know, I have now seen almost 100 ceremonies of Friederike and of course, she can not always reinvent the wheel, but it amazes me every time again, how personal these speeches are, how much heart and soul is in her weddings and how relaxed she then brings all these emotions across. Especially as a wedding photographer, I always think this great, because I have also experienced, well, not so good wedding celebrants.

On this cozy afternoon, however, Friederike managed, as always, to fully engage and inspire the guests and the wedding couple, although rituals were not allowed thanks to the pandemic situation. She made it possible that me as a wedding photographer at Birkenhof in Ahrensboek came fully at my expense. Because the wedding couple and the guests oscillated between laughing and crying, between seriousness and uproariously funny moments. Perfect!

And that’s exactly how the celebration went on. Relaxed, full of energy and with a lot of love. Also towards us who were on duty. Because where we are usually always the last to be allowed to the buffet, this time we were the first. I’ve never had that as a wedding photographer… and I confess, I enjoyed it 😉 Please remember that I get food at your wedding, as the party can go well into the night.
