I love my work as a wedding photographer so much! If I hadn’t discovered this passion and profession for myself at 16, I’d really be saying things like, “Why didn’t I know that before?!”
It is simply an honor for me as a wedding photographer every time wedding couples put their trust in me and hire me to capture this special day, their wedding day, with my camera. Every couple and every wedding is unique and I am always thrilled to see how much love and emotion can be felt on this day and almost make the air buzz. The wedding at the moated castle Unsleben of Doro and André was a perfect example of how a wedding should look like.
But let’s start at the beginning. So, 5 days before the wedding maybe. Because I didn’t even know then that I would be photographing a wedding that day. However, in the Corona pandemic, all of us in the wedding industry couldn’t help but step in for each other, support each other, and have each other’s backs where we could. It’s a shame that so many colleagues in the wedding industry still didn’t make it through the last three years.
Getting Ready with wedding photographer in Unsleben
The wedding photographer for whom I spontaneously helped out here 3 days before the wedding is still a very valued colleague and I am very happy about it. But most of all I’m happy that he didn’t want to let down such a great wedding couple and then thought of me directly when it was clear that he himself couldn’t go to the wedding as a wedding photographer.
And so I then stood in the morning in front of the moated castle in Unsleben after a really only very short video phone call with the wedding couple and was accordingly excited about what this wedding day would hold for me as a wedding photographer at Rhön. And as I said: It’s always great!
First Look at a wedding at Rhön
The bride and her friends spent the night at the falcon’s nest of the castle. A beautiful start to the day! The hairdresser came to the bride’s Getting Ready and the tension, excitement and anticipation was almost tangible. You know I love those special emotions when preparing for a wedding. And so I was able to shoot some great wedding photos of the bride, her friends and her mom. It’s always nice to be a part of this special moment and to get myself (and everyone else present) into the day.
Emotional church ceremony with wedding photographer in Unsleben
After getting ready, we went to church in a red vintage Porsche. And I tell you, there it became even more emotional. Sure, who couldn’t be emotional when a couple ties the knot?! (Wow, that was cheesy :D). If I hadn’t already had really unpersonal ceremonies, I would say that it wouldn’t matter who does the ceremony, but even if it doesn’t go the way you imagined as a wedding couple or guests: in the end, all that matters is that you want to keep each other! And yes, okay, a kiss in the wedding ceremony is also nice 😉
The exit with a shower of flowers left the wedding couple smiling all over their faces and obviously there was hardly a dry eye during the congratulations. Great! And hey, the motorcade to Unsleben will probably remain in my memory for a long time. I’m a motorsports fan and think motorcades are somehow pretty cool.
Creative wedding photos at the reception in the moated castle
Coffee and cake in the garden of the moated castle then continued in a relaxed manner and live music provided the perfect atmosphere. The bride and groom had been extremely worried about the weather beforehand, as they often are, but everything just worked out and the garden of the moated castle was a really beautiful backdrop for the wedding photos. Even though, just between you and me, I don’t need a backdrop at all to be happy… emotions and people are completely enough for me. After all, the great art of wedding photography and weddings in general is to have the time of your life together… regardless of the decor, venue and all that. Because love is the center of attention!
Wedding party with photographer in the wine cellar
The wedding dance and the start of the party rounded off this wonderful day and there was dancing until deep into the night. Wonderful and just as you could imagine! Even though I wouldn’t have thought that five days before and spontaneously stepped in for my wedding photographer colleague to “save” the bride and groom.
I am grateful that I had the chance to be part of this special day as a wedding photographer.
