When Eva and Andi from near Salzburg contacted me and asked me if I would like to come to Wolfgangsee for them as a wedding photographer, of course I couldn’t say “no”! The region at Salzkammergut is simply picturesque and the perfect place for a wedding.
And even though I have documented weddings all over the world, I am always happy when I am invited to Austria. I love the mountains, the nature and also the beautiful landscape.
Getting Ready with wedding photographer at Wolfgangsee
The day started for me with the bride’s Getting Ready at Hotel Hollweger, where they later had the big party. Eva and her two children welcomed me directly on this rainy September morning.
The rainy civil wedding ceremony in St. Wolfgang in Salzkammergut
But wait Steven – It was raining? Isn’t that the nightmare of every wedding photographer and couple, especially when you’re getting married in such a great place as Lake Wolfgang?
To be completely honest: the wedding day is of course different than you had planned before. Nevertheless, I can of course only suggest to every bride and groom to think about this Plan B – or rather Plan R – in advance. Everyone invests so much work and time in a big celebration, should of course also consider this case.
Getting married in Salzburger Land – even in the rain!
On the other hand, I can clearly say that “different” does not mean “worse”! After all, there is one thing that always remains the same: you spend a great day with your friends and family. So let’s not kid ourselves: you won’t be getting together in this constellation anytime soon.
That’s why it’s so important to enjoy the day and soak up as much of the atmosphere as possible. No matter if it’s storming, raining or snowing: every wedding writes its own stories and I as a wedding photographer am there to tell them.
Church wedding at Kalvarienberg
Eva and Andi gave themselves the “I do” twice on their big day: first in a civil ceremony in St. Wolfgang and then in a church wedding in the Kalvarienberg church. The champagne reception on the mountain with view over the Wolfgangsee was simply mind-blowing. The bride and groom chose this place just perfectly. The fact that the forecourt of the small church on the Calvary was even covered was great for this rainy wedding day.
Wedding celebration at Hotel Hollweg
Together with the complete wedding party we went back to Hotel Hollweg, which is located directly at Wolfgangsee in the Salzburger Land. Here we had a beautiful evening with funny speeches and convivial round, which made completely forget how the weather was outside.
Creative couple pictures from the wedding photographer at the Wolfgangsee
And since the small portait session at noon “fell into the water”, we even took some creative couple pictures at the hotel. It really always depends on what you make of the given – and Eva and Andi just had a blast.
